BIG Things Are Coming Out of Crew 3D Lab... 👀

And when we say BIG, we mean 30 inches tall. 😂

Our printers have been working overtime on one of our biggest Crew 3D Lab projects yet: two larger-than-life 3D creations inspired by Mando & The Child.

Mando stands a whopping 30 inches tall, with The Child coming in at approximately 16 inches tall.

But the finished pieces only tell part of the story.

Because these definitely didn't come off the printer looking like this.

They started as pieces.

Lots and lots and LOTS of pieces.

We Saw Them and HAD to Make Them

There wasn't exactly a complicated business strategy behind this one. 😂

We saw these designs and immediately knew we had to make them.

Our oldest is a huge Mando fan. Our youngest is all about Baby Yoda.

At this point, we're pretty sure they're their alter egos.

So naturally, Crew 3D Lab needed both. ❤️

Four Printers. Six Days. Pieces EVERYWHERE.

At 30 inches tall, Mando is no little Desk Buddy.

If we had printed him from beginning to end on a single machine, the complete print would have taken approximately six DAYS.

We're not that patient. 😂

Instead, we put four of our printers to work at the same time, with different parts printing simultaneously.

And that's when our workspace started looking a little crazy.

A cape on one printer. Helmet pieces on another. Armor. Legs. Body sections. Belt pieces. Accessories.

At one point, it looked less like we were building Mando and more like he had completely fallen apart in our dining room.

But piece by piece, it started coming together.

Printing Is Only the Beginning

This set was printed mostly in PLA, but getting everything off the printers was only step one.

Each section had to be cleaned up, fitted and then glued together to create the finished characters.

And some of those prints required some pretty serious supports.

The helmet alone came off the printer surrounded by what looked like a small forest. 😂

That's part of what we love about projects like this. You get to watch something go from a file on a computer, to a printer bed full of parts, to something that suddenly starts looking VERY familiar.

It's All in the Details

We also wanted the finished Mando to have more dimension than we could get from filament alone.

Pieces like the gun, bullets and other metallic accessories were originally printed in gray.

Then we painted them by hand to give them that more realistic metallic appearance.

It's an extra step, but those little details make a HUGE difference once everything is assembled.

There's something pretty satisfying about standing back at the end and realizing that every piece you're looking at came off one of our printers and was assembled and finished right here by Crew 3D Lab.

And Then There Were Two ❤️

Of course, we couldn't make Mando without The Child.

Especially when our boys have already claimed them as their respective alter egos. 😂

Standing at approximately 16 inches tall, The Child may be considerably smaller than Mando, but next to the things we normally print, he's still BIG.

Put the two of them together and you really start to appreciate the scale.

These aren't little shelf figurines.

They're statement pieces made for a HUGE fan.

BIG THINGS ARE COMING 👀

If you've mostly known Crew 3D Lab for our keychains, Desk Buddies, Spirit Chains and smaller creations, consider this your warning.

We're going bigger.

Projects like this let us push our printers a little further, try new techniques and see just how much we can create one piece at a time.

And we've got some pretty fun ideas brewing. ❤️

Come Meet Them at Depot Days!

Want to see just how big these guys really are?

We're bringing Mando and The Child to Depot Days in Smyrna, Tennessee this weekend!

They'll both be available for purchase, so if you have a HUGE Mando or Baby Yoda fan in your life, you might want to come find us early. 😉

Even if you aren't planning to take one home, stop by the Crew 3D Lab booth and check them out in person.

Pictures really don't do them justice.

And who knows what giant creation we'll have printing next...

Made by us. Made for your crew. ❤️

These fan-made creations are inspired by Mando & The Child. Original 3D model designs by Titan3D. Printed, assembled, finished and hand-painted by Crew 3D Lab.
